Hi-Chew was launched in 1975 by Morinaga, one of the biggest manufacturers of Japanese candies. This chewy fruit candy has become a cultural icon in Japan and there are now over 170 different Hi-Chew flavors!

Each piece is like a chewing gum yet can be swallowed since the Japanese have a cultural taboo against putting out food from one’s mouth.
